In 1987 I rode by car with a business associate from Paris, FR to Omaha Beach, Calvados, Lower Normandy, FR
We drove through Rouen and also Caen. The largest capitals Upper Normandy(FRD2) and Lower Normandy(FRD1) respectively. I remember noticing a sign at the entrance to a town probably near Rouen saying they were celebrating their 1000th anniversary.
I no longer have the pictures I took but the two below look the most familiar.
